Okay now I hope you’ve read the Infinity post . If not you won’t get this next piece. Remember when you were a kid during the summer and you were bored? Nothing to do. Actually, if you think about it there wasn’t nothing to do there was an infinite possibility of things to do. Now I realize that you probably couldn’t turn yourself into a fish and go for a swim in the lake but you get the point. Suppose God, existing in some way as infinite possibilities, decided that in Himself, of Himself, and through Himself, He would become at least one of the possibilities? Let’s assume one such possibility became our Universe. Why? Why would God want to do this? Back to the bored kid. What if the bored kid was wearing a brand new pair of Adidas Roms (I loved those shoes as a kid)? Do you think he would sit there all day imagining all the things he could do in his Roms? Well, I can tell you he didn’t - he wore them out DOING stuff. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Maybe God had a brand new shiny pair of Adidas Roms and He couldn’t wait to try them out so He entered into a possibility. Love. God wanted to love. So He made me and you. I realize this opens a huge can of worms but just stick with it and keep reading.

Have you ever tried to imagine infinity? I have. It makes my head hurt. This is especially true when thinking about time - it produces a really bad headache. Then it occurred to me that maybe time cannot be infinite at least in the way we typically think of it. Another head-banger is to try and imagine a boundless Universe but this always leads to a conclusion-of-the-Truman-Show-moment where he bumped into the end of his Universe only to find another. You’ve been there I’m sure. So, is there a way to think about infinity without the headache? YES!! Here’s how you do it:
The possibilities are endless. There you have it.
Infinity.
Suppose you write something on the page? Let’s say on the first page you write:
Genesis 1:1 (ESV)
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… What has just happened? Infinite possibilities just BECAME one of the possibilities - and this one realized possibility is no longer infinite is it?
Could it be that in some way God is like the blank pad of paper and pen and that our Universe is one possibility that BECAME? Think about it.
